FOUR-DAY: Cornwall bags six as Harpy Eagles crash to 273-run defeat

Led by Rahkeem Cornwall, Leeward Islands Hurricanes thumped the Guyana Harpy Eagles by 273 runs in the second round of the Regional Four-Day Championship at Warner Park, St. Kitts,  on Saturday.

Cornwall spun his way to 6-61 to seal the victory after back-to-back centuries from opener Mikyle Louis laid the solid foundation for the Hurricanes to press home their advantage.

It means the defending champions are winless after their first two matches and will face West Indies Academy in the third round at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua, from February 21.

Harpy Eagles started the day 67-1 in an uphill pursuit of 460 for victory but only added 119 to their total as they were dismissed for a second time in the match for below 200.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul added seven to his overnight total to be dismissed for 47, while Raymond Perez only got three more for his 23.

Veerasammy Permaul battled for 30, but the middle order of Kevlon Anderson (26), Kemol Savory (24), and Kevin Sinclair (23) got started and failed to convert.
