Fire destroys Bartica house, arson suspected

A house at Bartica, Agatash Squatting Area, Region Seven, was on Sunday destroyed by a fire that was maliciously set.

According to the Guyana Fire Service, the wooden and concrete building was set alight at about 8:11 hrs and, firefighters were alerted to the blaze, arriving at 08:19 hrs.

Lucille King, Aston Simmons, Atalia Simmons, and Abraham Simmons lived at the house, owned by Romona Primus.

Another building also owned by Romona Primus suffered damage due to radiated heat from the building of origin resulting in PVC guttering and four black tanks  being destroyed by the blaze.

Investigations into the fire are ongoing.
