Man, 27, remanded for illegal possession of ammo, drugs

A construction worker from Hope Estate, East Coast Demerara and Guyhoc Park Squatting Area, Georgetown, was on Friday charged with the illegal possession of ammunition and narcotics.

Jamal Anthony, 27, appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court where the charges were read to him and he pleaded not guilty.

He was charged with being in possession of eight 12-gauge shotgun cartridges and four .38 rounds of ammunition without a license. He was also charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and cultivating a prohibited plant.

The man was arrested by the police on February 14.

He was denied bail and the matters were transferred to the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court. He was remanded to prison on March 26.
