La Bonne Intention (LBI) Cricket Club defeated Golden Grove by 63 runs to book their place in the semi-finals of the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB)/Double V Auto Sales/Navin Construction 100-ball competition.
Playing at the Fairfield ground at Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, last weekend, the LBI lads were led to victory by standout individual performances from former Inter-County youth players, Aaron Beharry and Ariel Tilku.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, LBI racked up 167-3 with Beharry leading the way with an unbeaten 75 (8x4s, 2x6s).
Beharry forged several partnerships that formed the base of LBI’s score. He added 46 for the first wicket with Emron Mohamed, who made 16, and 31 for the second with Richard Dowlatram, whose contribution was 13.
Nizam Khan then made 13, before Beharry and Tilku finished off the innings with an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 59. Tilku made 19 not out.
Tilku then returned with the ball to take 2-29 off his 20 balls, as Golden Grove responded with 104-6 from the allotted 100 balls.
Skipper Leon Andrews played a lone hand of 73, striking five fours and four sixes.
