The National Men’s Under-20 team lost to hosts Antigua and Barbuda 4-0 in their opening match of the 2024 Concacaf Men’s Under-20 Championship Qualifying on Friday.
Contested at the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association Technical Centre in Piggots, goals from Antigua came from Javauhn Parker (2’), Aiden Jarvis (16’), Christopher Douglas (18’) and Javaughn Jarvis (84’).
Guyana’s next match is against El Salvador on Sunday from 10:30h.
The other matches in the group saw El Salvador defeat the Turks and Caicos Islands 7-0.
Suriname is the other team in the group, which has not played yet.
Following the round-robin stage, the Junior Golden Jaguars must clinch the top spot in Group B to advance to the 2024 Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championship, where they will join the six pre-seeded top-ranked nations.
