On Saturday, the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) informed that the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) renewed its sponsorship of the Inter-Association Under 19 50-over tournament scheduled to commence on March 2.

According to a release from the DCB,  “GFSCA is known for pioneering softball cricket locally and internationally.”

The tournament will involve the five associations – Upper Demerara, East Bank, East Coast, West Demerara, and Georgetown – and will be played in a round-robin format, with the top two teams qualifying for the final.

The final is expected to be streamed live as the tournament will be the primary yardstick for selecting the county’s team for the Guyana Cricket Board Inter-County Tournament.

DCB further informed that the tournament would be branded under Trophy Stall/Ramchand’s Auto Spares/Ariel Enterprise/Rohan Auto Spares/Steve’s Jewelry/Petama Enterprise/Motor Trend/Cricket Equipment Guyana/General Marines/Terry Mathura.

At a simple ceremony held recently, Rahaman ‘Buddy Rahaman’ Khan, Managing Director and owner of General Marines, presented the cheque to DCB’s Marketing Manager, Anil Beharry.

General Marines distributes Marine Equipment, Motor Cycles, Power Products, Bearings, and Licensed Firearms and Ammunition dealers.

Khan expressed his delight in being part of developing young cricketers in Demerara, Guyana, and the West Indies as Beharry thanked the sponsor for his contribution to this significant championship.
