Bartica taxi driver charged for possession of marijuana

A 28-year-old taxi driver was on Monday remanded to prison after he was charged for possession of 33,470 grammes of marijuana.

Noel Tobin, a resident of Bartica, appeared before Magistrate Crystal Lambert at Bartica Magistrate’s Court.

Tobin was charged for the possession of narcotic for the purpose of trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge which was laid contrary to Section 5 (1) (a)(i) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10.

Bail was refused and the matter was postponed to March 18, 2024.

Tobin was arrested by ranks from the Bartica Police station last week after a search in his apartment unearthed the marijuana.
