Parika housewife, 24, stabbed to death by husband

Nikesha Sutton, a 24-year-old housewife of Parika, East Bank Essequibo was stabbed to death allegedly by her 24-year-old husband on Monday.

Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 17:00 hrs Monday.

According to reports, the man got home at around 15:00 hrs in an intoxicated state. He and Nikesha got into an argument but the man subsequently left the premises.

At around 17:00 hrs, he returned with two alcoholic beverages and again, he got into an argument with Nikesha. A scuffle then ensued.

Nikesha’s sister told Police that she (the sister) intervened to stop the scuffle.  Thereafter, the man reportedly told Nikesha to pack her clothes and move out of the house. Nikesha then placed her clothes into a bucket and was making her way through a track to her sister’s house nearby when the suspect picked up one of the beer bottles, broke it and dealt one stab to her neck.

He then fled the scene.

Nikesha’s body was escorted to Leonora Cottage Hospital where the woman was pronounced dead. The body is at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.

Police are looking for the suspect as investigations continue.
