Skeletal remains found at Esplanade Park

Police in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains, suspected to be those of a man near the Esplanade Park in Berbice.

The News Room was informed that the discovery was made at around 14:15 hrs by a 36-year-old excavator operator.

The human skull was found near a multi-coloured bag that was tied with a piece of canvas rope. In the bag, there were suspected human bones.

Reports reaching the News Room indicate that an excavator operator was clearing an empty lot along Esplanade Road in the vicinity of the Guyana Revenue Authority, New Amsterdam Berbice when he made the discovery.

The Police were immediately summoned.

Upon processing the scene, the News Room was told that along with the remains, the police also found several pieces of clothing including underwear and shorts in the bag.

The remains were collected and taken to Central Police Station for further investigation.

As the investigation continue, the News Room was told that ranks in the region are currently in the process of checking missing persons’ records with the hope of identifying the victim.
