Security guard’s house destroyed by fire

A security guard is counting his losses after a fire destroyed her No.76 Village, Corentyne, Berbice house on Thursday.

Norma McIntosh told reporters that she was at the market when she got the call at around 10:30 hrs that the two-storey wooden house was engulfed in flames.

“I hear my house burn down…that was around 10:30…all I saw was fire when I come home,” the distraught woman said.

When she arrived at the scene, firefighters were already battling the blaze.

McIntosh believes it was an act of arson since she was told by the fire service that the door was open and the padlock was on the step.

The wooden house comprised of two rooms and was furnished with all amenities. McIntosh welcomes any assistance to rebuild her house.

    I feel so sorry for you Norma on the tragic loss of your house. A house which you no doubt toiled to acquire with all amenities at that. The thing is that what is lost cannot be regained. I am hoping that you find some suitable temporary shelter until you are able to rebuild.
