The Guyana Police Force FC dealt a telling blow to Monedderlust FC, securing a commanding 6-0 win on Thursday night in the KFC Elite League Season Six.
The March 7 clash took place at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Training Centre in Providence, East Bank Demerara, before a spirited crowd of football enthusiasts.
In the 27th minute, Threvon Pluck ignited the scoring for an electrifying start, setting the tone for the match. Darwin George then expanded the lead to two seven minutes later, with his teammate Pernel Schultz finishing the first half with a goal at the 45+2 minute mark.
The momentum carried into the second half, as Nicholas McArthur added to the tally with a fourth goal in the 56th minute. The Guyana Police Force players systematically disrupted the opponent’s game plan, clinching an additional two goals – another by Schultz in the 65th minute and the sixth goal in the 90+1 by Jemar Harrigan – before the final whistle.
This is the Guyana Police Force FC second win, while Monedderlust FC suffered their second defeat since the launch of Season Six on February 25.
As of March 8, all 10 participating teams have completed two games apiece. Western Tigers FC, Slingerz, Guyana Police Force, and Guyana Defence Force have all secured two victories each, amassing six points in the standings. Currently, Western Tigers holds the top spot on the table based on goal difference.
Ann’s Grove United FC and Den Amstel claim the fifth and sixth positions with three points, each team notching one victory and enduring one loss.
Meanwhile, Santos FC, Fruta Conquerors FC, Monedderlust FC, and Buxton United FC find themselves in the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth spots, respectively, sitting at zero points after suffering defeats in both of their games.
The top 10 clubs are competing for the first-place cash prize of G$2,000,000 and cash rewards of G$1,200,000, G$800,000, and G$500,000 for the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. (GFF)
