Grabbing a meal most days, if not every day, can be a hassle whether it’s due to time constraints, traffic woes or simply a lack of options.

So, to bring a twist to the fast food industry in Guyana, ToGo-Guyana’s first ‘grab and go’ food outlet – has been established.

The business, located in the Amazonia Mall on the East Bank of Demerara, will officially open its doors to the public on Saturday, March 16.

ToGo offers a wide variety of Guyanese, Asian and Indian cuisine as well as sandwiches, desserts and beverages.

As the name suggests, ToGo provides customers with the option to walk in, choose from a lineup of freshly prepared meals and be served in just under five minutes.

ToGo is owned and operated by former Guyana and West Indies cricketer Ramnaresh Sarwan, the proprietor of the Amazonia Mall.

Ahead of the opening, the mall’s Marketing Manager, Cindy Ramnarine told the News Room that ToGo was birthed by Sarwan with the vision of providing people, especially young professionals with healthy and convenient food options.

“Something that is easily accessible and delicious at the same time.

“Because right now fast food is dominating the market and of course he wanted to add options that are healthy for persons also,” Ramnarine said.

At ToGo, there are a team of 10 kitchen staff and five counter personnel.

Meals are prepared daily by a team of international chefs. They are complemented by locals.

“They are very professional and they are adept in the market of Asian cuisine and we do have our local cooks, those girls are Guyanese and they have mastered the art of Thai and Indian cuisine. So, they put their own little spin to it with their Guyanese flavour,” Ramnarine explained.

At present, only the walk-in option is available but plans are in the pipeline to introduce online and telephone orders.

“Your food is already here waiting for you, we have it prepared…We understand you are working, you are on a time crunch, and there is traffic on the road so you want something that is readily available, so, you just walk in and place your order and it’s right there. You can grab it and go anytime you want,” Ramnarine told the News Room.

Once the response from the public is favourable, Ramnarine said there is a possibility that ToGo will be expanded in the future to serve the wider population.

“Finding healthy delicious food is a hassle right now in Guyana and you need to try it so that you would understand.

“You would never know that delicious could be healthy until you come to ToGo,” she said.

ToGo is situated in the northern wing of the Amazonia Mall.

The opening hours will be from 10 am to 9 pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 10 am to 9:30 pm from Fridays to Sundays.
