The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is pleased to announce that Guyana has been nominated for South America’s Responsible Tourism Award 2024 through the World Travel Awards. Guyanese residents and travel industry members are encouraged to vote for Guyana today.

“Placed against more well-known destinations, Guyana has been receiving international recognition through several prominent awards programmes for the past five years,” explains Kamrul Baksh, the Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority.

“This includes the World’s #1 Best of Ecotourism, a Top 10 Sustainable Destination, and the Leading Sustainable Adventure Destination, among others. It is now time to add the World Travel Awards to our list of accolades.”

The World Travel Awards™ was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Today, the World Travel Awards™ brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.

“From National Geographic and the Wall Street Journal to Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler, Guyana has been recognised as one of the World’s Greatest places to visit”, said Annarie Seecharan, Senior Marketing Manager at the Guyana Tourism Authority.

“Receiving recognition from prominent brands and awards programmes will continue to differentiate Destination Guyana and increase our competitiveness in the global marketplace.”
