Logger, 36, chopped to death by friend

A 36-year-old logger was on Monday chopped to death by one of his friends during a misunderstanding at Kururu Mission, Upper Berbice River.

Dead is Marcus Adrian, a resident of Kururu Mission, Upper Berbice River.

The incident occurred around 12:30 hrs at Seven Mile, Hururu Mission.

Police Headquarters said the suspect, a 28-year-old tractor operator, was arrested by the Toshao of the community.

Reports are that Adrian and the suspect worked together.

Investigations revealed that Adrian and the suspect were imbibing together when they had a misunderstanding. The suspect reportedly threw Adrian to the ground and dealt him several chops to his neck and face.

“Adrian reportedly got up and ran, but he collapsed at the centre of the trail,” Police said.

Adrian’s body was found lying on the Hururu Trail in a pool of blood. He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
