Duo busted with cocaine at Providence

Ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Wednesday arrested two men in connection with the discovery of almost 12 lbs of cocaine at Providence Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

In custody are Adrian Carew, 55, of Rainbow City, Wismar, Linden and Cavel Carew, 27, of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.

A statement from CANU noted that its ranks conducted an operation in the area during which they intercepted a canter.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed several brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine concealed in a box.

The men and suspected narcotic were escorted to CANU’s Headquarters where the drugs tested positive for cocaine and weighed 11.204 kilograms.
