Patentia teenager beaten, stabbed to death; student arrested, another in hiding


Police have arrested a 17-year-old student in connection with the brutal murder of Aaron Bess, a 17-year-old boy who was beaten and stabbed to death on Wednesday night at Patentia, West Bank Demerara.
Police officers are on the hunt for another suspect, a 16-year-old student from Skull City Patentia.
Police Headquarters reported that Bess was walking from Two Field, heading to a nearby shop to make a purchase around 21:30 hrs, when the suspects began to hurl bottles and bricks at him due to an old misunderstanding.
According to the police report, as Bess continued his journey, the suspects approached him, and one of them lashed him several times with a piece of steel, while the other stabbed him multiple times about the body.
Bess collapsed and the teen suspects fled on foot. Bess was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital by public-spirited persons where he was pronounced dead.
The body was checked by the police and they found stab wounds to his left upper chest, left lower stomach area and right side neck (jugular vein).
The body is at the Ezekiel Funeral Home at Best Village where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police said the 17-year-old suspect who was apprehended is a school dropout.
