George Aubrey Archer, a 72-year-old pensioner of Suddie, Essequibo Coast, was found guilty of having in his possession unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The case was heard on Tuesday at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam. The defendant was absent, but his Counsel, Miss De Santos, was present, Police Headquarters reported in a statement.
The defendant was found guilty of both charges and was sentenced to eight months imprisonment with a fine of $50,000 on each charge.
The sentence will run concurrently.
Archer was nabbed with the unlicensed firearm and ammunition on September 28, 2023 at Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast.
Police Headquarters could not say if Archer is now in the custody of the prison authorities.
