Nial Smith and Veerasammy Permaul shared ten wickets as Guyana Harpy Eagles defeated Windward Volcanoes by 254 runs on day three of their West Indies Four-Day Championship match at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua.

Smith took 5-29 while Permaul got 5-47 to bundle Volcanoes for 165 in the chase of 419.

All-rounder Shamar Springer led the resistance with an unbeaten 69 while pacer Ryan John got 41 and Test batsman Kavem Hodge made 21.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul (left) and Tevin Imlach scored vital centuries for the Harpy Eagles

Earlier, Tevin Imlach and Tagenarine Chanderpaul converted their respective overnight scores of 88 and 78 to much-deserved centuries.

Imlach made 107 (9x4s) from 243 balls, while Chanderpaul got a welcome return to form for an unbeaten 101 (9x4s; 2x6s) from 248 balls as Harpy Eagles declared on 242 in the second innings.

The Championship takes a break and resumes April 10, when the Harpy Eagles will travel to Sabina Park to face the Jamaica Scorpions.
