From L-R: Khalil Madramootoo and Lindon Davis

Police have arrested two fishermen who allegedly broke into a tomb and stole money between March 17 and 19, 2024, at Murphy Dam Cemetery Rosignol Village, West Bank Berbice.

In custody are 31-year-old Khalil Madramootoo, also known as Prito and 38-year-old Lindon Davis, also known as ‘Mama G’, both of Murphy Dam.

Police Headquarters reported that Madramootoo admitted that he and Davis vandalized the tomb of 52-year-old Muneshwar Jawahir of Rosignol.

He claimed that Davis was the person who broke into the tomb, and together they stole about $28,000 cash from the coffin.

Davis has since denied any involvement in the incident.

They both remain in custody. Jawahir was laid to rest at the Murphy Dam cemetery in Region Five on February 9, 2024.

  1. reading this really made me laugh…

    people buried with cash?

they should of fed the poor instead

let the grave robbers do community service in the same cemetery as a sentence…30 days…8 hours per day

  2. That cash in the coffin, was for the deceased to buy Chinese Fried rice in paper bag.
However, no phone inside to place order.
We come with nothing except “butt naked” at birth.
That’s how we should return but, for modesty’s sake- they clothed us to make us look happy.
