Wiltshire, Khalil seal national squash titles at ENet Senior Championships

Shomari Wiltshire and Ashely Khalil are the new national squash champions after the senior championships, powered by ENet, recently concluded at the Georgetown Club Courts.

Wiltshire returned to Guyana and looked refined in his tremendous prowess as he defeated Daniel Ince 11-7, 7-11, 4-11, 2-11 to win the male title.

To reach the final, Wiltshire got the better of Jason-Ray Khalil 11-7, 5-11, 8-11, 7-11, while Ince topped 2023 champion Alex Arjoon 11-8, 11-7, 12-10.

Meanwhile, Number-one seed Ashley Khalil won her title match against Mary Fung-A-Fat 11-5, 11-9, 5-11, 11-9 after she beat Taylor Fernandes 11-5, 11-8, 11-7 in the semi-final.

Fung-A-Fat bettered Ashely DeGroot 11-3, 11-5, 11-6 in her semi-final.

More so, Avinash Oditt defeated Miguel Wong in the plate final, while Safirah Sumner dominated Emily Fung-A-Fat.

Attention now turns to Guyana hosting the Senior Caribbean Area Squash Championships in August.

Guyana is the defending champions for senior CASA and would have last hosted the event in 2019, which they won.
