BREAKING: Three North Rupununi girls drown in ‘fish pond’

Three girls, ages 5, 6 and 8, were Tuesday night reported dead by the Guyana Police Force following a drowning incident in the wetlands of Region Nine.

Commander of the Regional Police Division, Senior Superintendent Raphael Rose confirmed that the three girls drowned in a ‘fish pond’ at Massara Village, North Rupununi.

A Police team was deployed to the remote area to ascertain the facts. The News Room confirmed the girls’ names to be: Michelle Jeffery, Nia Jeffery and Alicia Jeffery.

Commander Rose indicated that the girls were all related. Michelle and Alicia are said to be sisters and Nia a cousin of the two siblings.

Reports indicate that the tragic incident occurred when the girls were swimming in a ‘Fish Pond’ in the village.
