Motorcyclist dies in early morning Brickdam accident

An accident Monday morning at the intersection of Brickdam and Brummel Place, Georgetown resulted in the death of motorcyclist Nigel Harvey, a 34-year-old of ‘C’ Field Sophia, Georgetown.

The accident involved a minibus (#BWW 693) owned and driven by Keith Texeira-Livingstone, a 70-year-old resident of Lodge Housing Scheme, and motorcycle #CL 8444, owned and driven by Harvey.

Police Headquarters, in a statement, said that based on the investigation, the minibus was proceeding north along Brummel Place while the motorcycle was proceeding west along Brickdam.

As both vehicles approached the intersection of Brickdam and Brummel Place, both drivers failed to stop and collided.

As a result, the motorcyclist was flung into the air and fell onto the road surface. He was picked up by EMT personnel in an unconscious condition and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A traffic light was erected at the intersection but was not in working order at the time of the accident.

The driver of the minibus remains in custody, assisting with the investigation.
