Brilliant bowling performances from seamer Arif Khan and left-arm spinner Gilbert Griffith powered Guyana to a commanding victory over Trinidad and Tobago in Round Two of the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-15 Championship at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

After having to settle for a no-result in their rain-affected opening match against Barbados, the Guyanese boys sent a strong message to their rivals, thumping Trinidad and Tobago by nine wickets on Thursday.

Khan picked up splendid figures of 5-18 off six overs and Griffith 3-19 off six overs as Guyana dismissed Trinidad and Tobago for just 83 in 24.2 overs.

Brandon Henry and Danvir Seegobin shared the other two wickets.

Zaheer Mohammed topscored for Trinidad and Tobago with 24, after which S. Ramhatal made an early breakthrough, removing Justin Dowlin for seven.

That was the only breakthrough for the twin-island nation, as opener Parmeshwar struck an unbeaten 37 off 58 balls (4x4s) and Vice-captain Emmanuel Lewis 31 not out off 24 (5x4s).

In the other two games, Windward Islands won by seven wickets against Jamaica and Barbados crushed Leeward Islands by 94 runs.

    Below are the summarized scores

    At Liberta Sports Club: Jamaica 193-8 from 50 overs (R. Lyttleton 61*, T. Gordon 51; A. Scholar 2-24, J. Charles 2-36, E. Fontaine 2-39) vs Windward Islands 196-3 from 39.4 overs (E. Fontaine 93*; R. Lyttleton 2-28)

    At Bethesda Sports Ground: Barbados 327-4 from 50 overs (D. Wiggins 105, J. Hinds 81, K. Clarke 46; L. Bergan 2-21) vs Leeward Islands 233 all out from 49.3 overs (L. Bergan 50, J. Edward 48; J. Hinds 2-28, Z. Harding 2-40, R. Stoute 2-41)

The competition will continue on March 30 with Guyana against Jamaica at the Bethesda Sports Ground, Leeward Islands versus Windward Islands at Liberta Sports Club and Trinidad and Tobago against Barbados at All Saints Cricket Ground.
