David Dookram, a 50-year-old resident of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, is hospitalised in a serious state after he was allegedly beaten and robbed by four men on Tuesday.

The man’s brother, Ronald Dookram, told the News Room on Saturday that the incident occurred at about 20:00 hrs Tuesday. David was attending a birthday party when he was reportedly approached by four men who hit him about his body.

Ronald said the men- two of whom are known to the family- then went to David’s house and stole a stove, a weeding machine, and about $115,000 cash.

And according to him, the matter isn’t being investigated with much alacrity. Ronald said it was only until Thursday when he started making inquiries, that ranks went to the scene and began investigating the incident.

Ronald hopes that an investigation will be concluded quickly and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. For the time being, he said his brother is battling with his injuries at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

“My brother’s femur bone and so is damaged, he can’t walk,” Ronald told the News Room.
