Labourer, 35, shot in front Charlotte Street church

Wesson Hinds, a 35-year-old labourer, was shot at around 09:40 hrs Sunday by two men wearing masks as he was standing in front of a church at Charlotte Street, Georgetown.

Police Headquarters reported that Hinds was reportedly targeted by the men.

One of the assailants, who was armed with a handgun, was the pillion rider on a motorcycle.

Investigations thus far revealed that the victim was standing on Charlotte Street opposite the Truth Power, Glory, and Sanctuary church, facing north when the suspects approached from the south on a motorcycle.

The pillion rider disembarked and reportedly demanded belongings from Hinds. That assailant, who was armed with a handgun, then discharged a round from the gun, hitting Hinds in his left upper thigh.

The suspects then fled on the motorcycle.

Police said Hinds is receiving medical treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, with his condition reported as stable. Investigations continue.
