President Dr. Irfaan Ali on Monday assured Guyanese of a continuation of his current policies, founded on the intent to bring prosperity to every individual, their home and their community.

He looks forward to the upcoming general elections in 2025 but even in his first term as President, Dr. Ali has set an ambitious 2030 and beyond agenda for his government. And to steer the agenda, Dr. Ali hopes to be returned as President for a second term.

“We have crafted a plan 2030 and beyond, a lot of what we are doing now, the fruits of labour will come just about when my two terms are over, once the people so decide.

“You will see a continuation of policies that will lead to sustainable development and policies aimed and directed at building the prosperity of every family,” Dr. Ali said.

He was at the time being interviewed by Trinidadian Journalist Hema Ramkissoon on the CNC 3 morning show. The President was asked specifically by Ramkissoon about the policies and initiatives the incumbent PPP/C will prioritise going into the election year.

With a smile on his face, Dr. Ali said: “you are asking me to give you an insight into the manifesto.”

Notwithstanding, he entertained the question and spoke about how he intends to position Guyana in the region and on the international stage.

“You will see Guyana taking a lead role on the issue of climate, energy and food security. More importantly, you will see a deep push to integrate Guyana and the South American Shield,” The Guyanese leader said.

During a recent visit to West Coast Berbice, President Dr Irfaan Ali engaged with fisherfolk from Rosignol and Blairmont, as well as field and factory workers from the Blairmont Estate.

He spoke about connectivity and energy collaboration with Brazil before turning his attention back to local developments where he promised the realization of world-class and modern education, health and energy systems and the expansion of massive industrialisation and manufacturing capacity.

His plan is to also invest in ICT and the governance system to move it towards greater efficiency through digitization and the accompanying investment in security and agriculture was also mentioned.

“We are working on implementing economic opportunities and initiatives to improve and expand disposal income at the household level.

“When that happens we grow individual wealth, family wealth, community wealth and national wealth… we don’t want wealth to be in economic parameters alone, we want wealth to be enjoyed throughout the country through a good standard of living,” Dr. Ali said.
