Guyana Harpy Eagles wicketkeeper-batsman Kemol Savory struck a superb 127* to rescue the Eagles on day one of the West Indies Four-Day match against Jamaica Scorpions at Sabina Park.

Savory’s second First-Class ton took the Eagles from a perilous position to one of comfort.

The defending champions reached stumps 278-7 after being 61-6 in 27.1 overs.

Savory entered in the 14th over with the Eagles 17-3 after skipper Tevin Imlach retired, hurt due to a suspected finger injury.

He and Gudakesh Motie then produced a counter-attacking stand of 127 for the seventh wicket, which shifted the momentum back to the Eagles.

Motie played a significant role in scoring 56 (8x4s; 1×6) from 86 balls, while Savory has thus far faced 251 balls and struck 13 fours and three maximums.

Imlach returned to finish unbeaten on 33 (3x4s) from 93 balls and has added 90 with Savory.

Pacer Ojay Shields leads the day with 3-56 as off-spinner Peat Salmon took 2-64.
