Police find marijuana, firearm during raid in Linden

Police in Region 10 found a quantity of marijuana, a 9MM firearm and eleven (11) matching rounds along with a camouflage shirt in two houses at Half Mile, Wismar, Linden during raid exercises early Friday.

A statement from Police Headquarters noted that at about 06:00 hrs, the team of police ranks conducted a search on the home of a 39-year-old man of Half Mile and found a plastic bag containing marijuana on a dining table in the home.

The 39-year-old man was told of the offence, cautioned and arrested.

Additionally, at about 06:30 hrs, the team went to another residence where two men, both 28-years-old, were seen.

Upon entering the house ranks observed one of the men throwing an object through a window. The object was immediately retrieved and found to be a loaded 9MM firearm.

Subsequently, a further search was conducted on the home and a camouflage (GDF) shirt was found in a bedroom where the other suspect was. He was also arrested.

The 39-year-old suspect who was found with the cannabis was taken to the Wismar Police Station, where it was weighed in his presence and it amounted to 18 grams.

The two other men were escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, where the firearm, ammunition, and camouflage shirt were lodged.

The three men remain police custody pending charges.
