Taxi driver shot by brother during row over woman

Lawrence Fanfair, a 38-year-old taxi driver of Castello Housing Scheme, La Penitance, Georgetown is nursing a gunshot wound to his left thigh after being shot by his younger brother.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the incident occurred at approximately 23:00 hrs on Thursday

Fanfair and his brother, Rendell Vanrassum, who is 32 years old and currently unemployed, reside at the same address.

The siblings found themselves in a row over a woman with whom Fanfair shared a relationship.

During the heated exchange, Fanfair who was sitting on a chair outside the house, was approached by Rendell who pulled out a black handgun from his right side pants waist and fired a shot.

Lawrence managed to escape and fled in an unknown direction.

He was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation by his relatives, where he was admitted as a patient in the male medical ward. His condition is listed as stable.

Investigations are in progress.
