Man who solicited, uploaded pornographic images of children to face cybercrime charges

A 28-year-old man who is accused of convincing two children, under the age of 14, to send him photographs of themselves, which he later uploaded online, is expected to face a series of cybercrime charges in the new week.

The suspect has been identified as Joshua Rambarran.

Police Headquarters in a statement said following reports of child luring and child pornography, an investigation was launched into the incidents which occurred on March 27, 2024 and April 6, 2024.

“Investigators found that two children under 14 years old were groomed and convinced to send explicit pictures and videos to a Snapchat account, and the said pictures and videos were then posted to a telegram group,” the Police report said.

As a result, the suspect was arrested and questioned.

A file was then prepared and dispatched to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Chambers for legal advice.

Police headquarters said that the file returned with recommendation that Rambarran be charged with several offences.

They are:

*Five counts of distributing child pornography through a computer cystem in contravention of Section 14(1)(b) contrary to Section 14 (4) (a) of the Cybercrime Act No. 16 of 2018.

*Publishing electronic data that is obscene with intent to humiliate another person in contravention of Section 19(2)(a) contrary to Section 19 (5)(a) of the Cybercrime Act No. 16 of 2018.

*Child luring, in contravention of Section 15(1)(a) of the Cybercrime Act 2018, contrary to section 15(4)(a) of the Cybercrime Act 2018, and

*Using a computer system to coerce, harass, intimidate, and humiliate a person, in contravention of section 19(1)(a) of the Cybercrime Act 2018, contrary to Section 19(5)(a) of the Cybercrime Act 2018.

Rambarran is scheduled to appear in court in the new week.

    The magistrate/judge need to SLAP this deviant child predator hard on his head with that COMPUTER that either head or electronic is shattered.
