    Rampertab Ramnauth (77*) and his younger brother Rampersaud Ramnauth (51*) stroked unbeaten half-centuries to keep a perfect record for Berbice in the ongoing Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Under-19 Inter-County 50-over tournament.

    Demerara also won their second match as they defeated Essequibo by 48 runs.

    The brothers led Berbice to a commanding 10-wicket victory over the GCB Select XI on Sunday at the Meten-Meer-Zorg Sports Club ground, West Coast Demerara.

    Rampertab struck six maximums and six fours, while Rampersaud had seven fours as they reached their target of 141 in 23.3 overs.

    The trio of Kumar Deopersaud (3-28 from eight overs), Salim Khan (3-31 from 7.4 overs) and Afraz Budhoo (2-21 from 10 overs) did the damage for Berbice in bundling the opposition in 43.4 overs.

    Deonarine Dindyal stroked 10 fours in a top-score of 52 from 62 balls, while Ari Afrizel Kadir struck three fours and solitary six in 26 from 82 balls.

    DEMERARA v ESSEQUIBO

    SUMMARY: Demerara 214 all out from 45.4 overs (Zachary Jodah 40, Johnathan Van Lange 29, Sachin Balgobin 28, Alvin Mohabir 26; Golcharran Chulai 3-34, Darwin Joseph 2-41, Mahem Khan 2-43) v Essequibo 166 all out from 35.2 overs (Thaddeus Lovell 73, Shahid Vieira 15, Mahem Khan 14; Krsna Singh 3-19, Riyad Latiff 3-38, Johnathan Van Lange 2-40)

    Over at the Malteenoes Sports Club, Demerara got their second win as they defeated Essequibo by 48 runs.

    Demerara was bowled out for 214, as Zachary Jodah made 40.

    Other seasoned youth players, such as Johnathan Van Lange (29), Sachin Balgobin (28) and Alvin Mohabir (26), got starts but could not convert to bigger scores.

    Spinner Golcharran Chulai (3-34), backed by Darwin Joseph (2-41) and Mahem Khan (2-43) made the inroads for Essequibo.

    Thaddeus Lovell then cracked 73 (8x4s; 3x6s) from 59 balls, but the next best scores were Shahid Vieria (15) and opener Mahem Khan (14).

    Spinners Krsna Singh (3-19) and Riyad Latiff (3-38) were the most successful with the ball for Demerara.

    The 65 extras in the match, 34 of which came from Demerara, were alarming for both sides.

    SCORECARD: DEMERARA v ESSEQUIBO

    In the opening round, Demerara defeated the Select XI by nine wickets, while defending champions Berbice prevailed by seven wickets over Essequibo.

    The competition will continue Tuesday, with Demerara hosting Berbice at Malteenoes and the Guyana Cricket Select XI taking on Essequibo at Lusignan.

    Both games will start at 09:30h.

    The competition is being hosted to select the national team to compete in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 competition in July in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
