Verwey, Alphonso Jr. to lead Guyana’s charge at Junior Caribbean Squash Championships

Talented Under-19 players Nicholas Verwey and Michael Alphonso Jr. are expected to lead Team Guyana at the Caribbean Area Squash Association Junior Championships in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, from June 30 to July 6.

The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) recently announced the squad, with reigning Caribbean Under-17 champions Louis DaSilva and Mohryan Baksh also joining in support in the Under-19 category.

The multi-talented Zion Hickerson will lead the Boys Under-11, and starting this year, this category will count towards team points.

Other budding talents include Ethan Bulkan, Avery Arjoon, Kaylee Lowe and Safirah Sumner.

At the last Junior Championships in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Nicholas Verwey, Avery Arjoon, and Louis DaSilva won Individual gold, while Kirsten Gomes and Nicholas Verwey won Mixed Doubles gold. Barbados won the overall title.
