Businessman, 20, granted $350k bail after charged with causing death of Enmore girl

Twenty-year-old Navindra Narine, a businessman of Enmore, East Coast Demerara was charged with causing the death of 16-year-old Anjalie Khemraj by dangerous driving.

He appeared at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court before Peter Hugh where the charge was read to him. He granted $350,000 bail .

Khemraj succumbed to her injuries on Friday last, five days after she was struck down by the speeding, intoxicated driver at Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Khemraj was among three persons who sustained injuries in the accident which occurred around 19:30 hrs on the Grass Field Access Road Easter Monday.

The two others are Keishan Samaroo, 14, and 11-year-old Reais Persaud, a student of Hope West Primary School.

The News Room understands that motor car, PAE 3091 was heading south along the access road when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

Before coming to a halt, the car ploughed through the trio and landed in a nearby drain.

The injured adolescents were all taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an unconscious state and admitted in as critical patients.

    What type of business is this 20 y.o. “businessman” involved in ?
    Are the parents of the deceased able to sue and collect from the vehicle liability insurance policy
    for the death of the young lady ?
