Police captures man wanted over 2013 Baracara murder

After 11 years on the run, Timothy Charles  Dejonge, also known as ‘Leon De Yonge’ of Baracara, Canje Creek, Berbice, was captured by Police on Saturday during an intelligence- led operation.

According to Police Headquarters, a senior officer led the operation to the man’s home where he was arrested.

The man was among three men who were wanted for the murder of Titus Sutton, which occurred at Baracara, Canje Creek, Berbice, on November 08, 2013.

During the said operation, a search was carried out in his home, and a suspected twelve gauge cartridge was found in a bag that was hanging on the bedroom wall. As such, Dejonge was escorted to Central Police Station along with the suspected cartridge, which was marked, sealed, and lodged in his presence.

He remains in custody as investigations continue.

Sutton, also known as ‘Frankie,’ 53, of Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara, was shot once to his chest in November 2013. In a press release, Police said Sutton was involved in an argument with another man who allegedly shot him to his chest with a shotgun.
