Elite League: GDF remains on top; Santos moves into fifth

Santos FC delivered a compelling performance, with five strikers netting seven goals against Monedderlust FC when the KFC Elite League continued at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) National Training Centre in Providence, East Bank Demerara.

Santos FC asserted their dominance early, with Stefan Reynolds unleashing a spectacular strike in the 3rd minute.

Their momentum continued as Ravi Coates, Ian Daniels, and Randy Roberts each added to the tally with goals in the 23rd, 26th, and 40th minutes before the halftime whistle.

Michael Oie then sealed the deal for Santos FC with goals in the 64th and 80th minutes, ensuring their victory in style.

The Georgetown club’s recent win has propelled them to fifth place in the standings, a notable climb of three positions. With nine points accumulated from three wins and four losses, they set their sights on further advancement.

At the top of the league stands Guyana Defence Force FC, showcasing an exceptional performance with six consecutive victories.

Their impressive tally of 35 goals scored, and a mere four conceded solidifies their position as the team to beat.

Hot on their heels is Slingerz FC, securing second place with an impressive streak of six wins.

Accumulating 18 points, they have showcased their attacking prowess with 29 goals while conceding only three.

In contrast, Guyana Police Force FC is now in third place with 18 points garnered from six victories and a single loss. Despite their commendable scoring record of 21 goals, they have conceded eight.

Meanwhile, Western Tigers FC holds fourth place with a balanced record of three wins and three losses, totaling nine points.

Fruta Conquerors FC has experienced a slight setback, dropping to sixth place after seven games. With three losses and four wins, the team has accumulated nine points.

Den Amstel FC slipped to seventh position, recording seven points from two wins, one draw, and two losses, while Ann’s Grove United FC sits in eighth place with two wins, one draw, and three losses, accumulating seven points.

Buxton United FC and Monedderlust FC are at the bottom of the table, having both yet to register any points after seven games.

Ten elite clubs are in contention for the coveted first-place prize of G$2,000,000, with cash rewards of $1,200,000, $800,000, and $500,000 awaiting the second, third, and fourth positions. (GFF)
