Vendor nabbed with cannabis at Bourda

Lochan Beharry, a 41-year-old vendor was on Friday arrested after he was caught carrying a plastic bag filled with 282 grammes of cannabis while in the vicinity of Bourda Market in Georgetown.

According to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), the Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice resident was intercepted by CANU officers who were conducting an operation.

He was in possession of a white bulky plastic bag that was searched and several transparent Ziploc bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, were found.

The man was escorted to CANU’s headquarters with the suspected narcotics. It tested positive for cannabis and  weighed 282 grammes.
