East Ruimveldt man stabbed to death during fight

Shawn George, 52, who resided at Vlissenggen Square, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown was stabbed to death on Wednesday during an altercation with a 34-year-old resident of West Ruimveldt.

Police said the incident occurred around 17:00 hrs in front of a Grocery shop located at Vlissengen Square, East Ruimveldt.

According to a statement from Police Headquarters, George was at the Grocery shop sitting on a bench, when the suspect drove by on a motorcycle and called him an “Anti-man”.

George reportedly invited the suspect to come and tell him that to his face.

The man stopped, came off the motorcycle, and approached George, after which a scuffle ensued.

During the scuffle, the two men ended up in a drain. The suspect pulled a knife from his pants’ waist and stabbed George four times to his abdomen.

He escaped on his motorcycle in a northern direction, leaving a wounded George in the drain.

George was subsequently picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he died while receiving treatment.

The matter was reported to the police and the scene was later processed by ‘Crime Scene’ ranks. The murder weapon was retrieved.

The suspect is currently being sought by the police.
