A 27-year-old man is now dead and a man is hospitalised after the car in which they were travelling was involved in an accident on the Farm Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) on Wednesday.
Dead is Derek Kisoon, 27 of Tuschen, EBE.
Kisoon was the driver of motor car, PVV 8589, when the accident occurred around 02:15 hrs.
Twenty-five-year-old Shazim Hanif, a resident of Zeelugt, EBE was also an occupant of the motorcar. She was injured.
Police Headquarters in a statement said inquiries revealed the motor car, was heading west along the southern lane of the public road, allegedly at a fast rate when Kisoon lost control of the vehicle while approaching a turn.
As a result, Kisoon collided with a shop and ended up in a trench on the southern side of the road.
He was picked up in an unconscious state along with Hanif and transported to the Leonora Cottage Hospital.
While Kisoon was pronounced dead on arrival, Hanif was admitted as a patient. Her condition is regarded as stable.
Kisoon body is presently at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
