Miner, 24, chopped by employer after quitting job


Indeo Miguel, 24, is currently hospitalised after he was allegedly chopped during a confrontation at Toroparu Backdam, Middle Mazaruni River.

Miguel, a resident of Karawab, Pomeroon sustained a chop wound to his abdomen during the incident which took place approximately 19:00 hrs on Thursday.

Police Headquarters said inquiries revealed that Miguel left his camp and went to a nearby shop where he began imbibing.

Upon returning to the camp, Police said Miguel reportedly claimed that he was leaving the job, which apparently annoyed his employer.

The suspect then confronted Miguel and chopped him.

Miguel was rushed to the mining company’s infirmary, where he was treated by a medex on duty.

He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is admitted as a patient.
