In a great context, it is a repeat of last year’s final as the formidable city side Chase Academic Foundation will again match prowess with a Region One opponent in the title clash for the tenth Milo Boys’ Under-18 School Football tournament.
In 2023, Chase faced Santa Rosa Secondary and lost 5-3 on penalties. This year, they face another team with tremendous grit and determination, Waramuri Secondary, on Sunday from 19:00h at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Waramuri is an indigenous community in Moruca, Region One , with approximately 1,800 persons.
President’s College will battle with Dolphin Secondary in the third-place playoff from 17:00h.
Semi-final recap
Led by Bryan Wharton (15th), Justin Alcindor (19th), Omar Sam (79th) and Shaquan David (80th), Chase defeated President’s College 4-0.
The other match was a thriller that went down to penalties. Waramuri found the resolve to recover from 0-2 at the half to level proceedings 2-2 and then win 4-3 on penalties.
Ezekiel Frank David (3rd) and Candel Hazel (11th) netted for Dolphin Secondary, while Zundel Abrams (46th) and Odell Holmes (62nd) were the men with all-important equalizing goals.
What’s at stake?
This year’s tournament winners will get $300,000, while the runners-up will pocket $150,000, and third place will settle for $75,000.
Individually, there will be accolades for the Most Valuable Player (MVP), highest goal scorer, and best goalkeeper.
