Two construction workers remanded for Eldorado Village burglary

Carl Rowland and Shaquan Bentick, two construction workers, were remanded to prison on Friday after they were allegedly involved in a burglary on Wednesday.

Police Headquarters said the incident transpired at the home of a 37-year-old woman of Eldorado Village, West Coast Berbice.

Police, acting on information received, went to the men’s shared residence and recovered several items including five cellphones, one Nintendo game, three packs of powdered milk, a Vita Malt, a smartwatch, two yellow metal chains, one earpiece, an Asus laptop and $52,320 cash.

All the items are suspected to be stolen.

The items recovered

When confronted, the men could not give an account of how they obtained the mentioned items. So the items were confiscated, documented, and lodged at the Police Station.

The men were also arrested and placed into custody at the Fort Wellington Police Station.

Officers went to another location in the said area. At that location, two men, Ricardo Marshall, a 23-year-old of North East La Penitence, Georgetown, and Shaun George, a 21-year-old of Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara were seen.

During a search at the location, one of the ranks observed Marshall throwing several small objects through a window. Both men were escorted to the yard, and upon checking, the rank recovered eight rounds of 9MM ammunition.

Both suspects were told of the offense committed, arrested, and escorted to the Fort Wellington Police Station.
