The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security officially launched its Men Empowerment Network (MEN) programme on Sunday and now has 1,000 free training courses available.
Subject Minister Dr. Vindhya Persaud said there are 1,000 spots available immediately but once men take advantage of the opportunity, another 1,000 can be made available.
Data literacy, digital presence, digital transformation, workplace productivity and real estate management are some of the online, self-paced courses offered.
And Dr. Persaud emphasised, “It is easy to get a whole additional qualification… you can even start your own real estate company.”
This programme for men is an expansion of the Women Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN) training programme. This intervention aligns with the government’s vision of promoting gender equality.
On Sunday, when the programme was launched, about 30 men had already signed up.
Dr. Persaud said her ministry is placing much emphasis on engaging men as well.
