The 2024 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) got underway Thursday morning with 15,488 children registered to write the secondary school entrance examination.
And according to Education Minister Priya Manickchand, the results of the assessment will be available in July.
“The results are due on or before the fifth of July,” Manickchand told reporters at the sidelines of her visit to the FE Pollard Primary School in Georgetown on Thursday.
Manickchand explained that it is the ministry’s deliberate policy now to provide an expected release date so parents can better plan any holidays or activities. She also said it helps to eliminate some anxiety on part of parents, pupils and/or teachers.
Grade Six pupils will this year get tested on the consolidated curriculum for Grades Three, Four and Five. This curriculum was developed following the learning and teaching difficulties encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic.
