Physical ticket sales for the upcoming World T20 began across the region on Thursday, a month before the tournament’s official bowl-off.

In Guyana, fans came out early to secure their tickets for the five group games and semi-final at the June 1-29 global showpiece. The 20-team tournament will feature 55 matches being played at venues in the Caribbean and USA.

Linsley McAllister of Linden was the first Guyanese to purchase a physical ticket at the Guyana Cricket Board office on Regent Street, with Shaundell Seepersaud, Paul Matil and Andy Ali also making early purchases.

One of the tournament’s ambassadors, the former Guyana and West Indies middle-order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan, was present to witness the commencement of physical ticket sales at the Guyana Cricket Board office on Regent Street.

He urged fellow Guyanese to grab the opportunity to secure their tickets early and avoid the last-minute rush.

“I want to encourage persons to come out and purchase those tickets early.

“Of course Guyana is one of the best places to come and watch cricket because of the passion we’ve shown over the years. I think it’s a wonderful thing to come and experience the sort of environment when you’re playing cricket here,” Sarwan said.

“With the whole Carnival you will be having here in Guyana and throughout the Caribbean I think it’s something everyone should come out and experience, not only people in the Caribbean, but those from around the world.”

The box office in Guyana will be opened Monday to Friday from 10:30h to 18:00h and on Saturdays from 10:00h to 16:00h.
