A man imprisoned for robbery is now charged with the murder of his fellow inmate.

Anthony Prince,  23, who was on remand for murder was stabbed to death during an argument with a fellow inmate, Shamar Davis called ‘Stamma’ of ‘B’ Field, Sophia during a fight. Prince and Davis shared the same cell.

The incident occurred on March 30, 2024.

One month later, on Friday, Davis was further remanded to prison after he was charged with the murder of Prince. He appeared before Magistrate Orinthia Schmidt at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court and was remanded until June 6, 2024.

According to a police report, investigations revealed that on the day in question, the men were in a cell block waiting on water to shower when an argument ensued between them over the infidelity of their girlfriends.

It is alleged by Davis that he saw Prince with what appeared to be an improvised weapon in his hand after which he punched Prince, inflicting a wound to his right side neck.

Prison officers were summoned and Prince was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Prince’s body is at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.

The murder weapon, an improvised weapon was recovered and CCTV footage was retrieved as the investigation continues.

    I remember seeing my nanny wearing bangles on the foot, when I was young.
    But, they were not like these this prisoner is wearing.
