Fifty-two-year-old Chinese national Zheng Shun Liu died on Monday after a septic tank he was building at Eccles Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara collapsed and crushed him.
Police Headquarters said the incident occurred at about 09:55hrs.
Zheng was an employee attached to L&P construction company.
According to a Police report, Zheng was working alone in thr septic tank that is being built at a bond which is currently under construction.
Other workers at the site rendered assistance and managed to remove Zheng from the tank, the Police stated.
The Police and Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned and Zheng was pronounced dead.
His body was examined and injuries were seen on the left side of his body.
Zheng’s body was taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
