A Turkeyen man was Monday found dead in a trench in neigbhouring Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
According to a police report, around 13:00hrs, an anonymous call was received at the Turkeyen Police Station, informing the police that a body was seen motionless in a trench at Dennis Street between C and D Fields, Sophia.
Police ranks were dispatched to the scene where they discovered the body of a male of African descent, floating, face-down in a trench.
The body was fished out, and Marlon Hamer who was present, identified the body to be that of his brother, Monella Hamer of Pattensen Access Road, Turkeyen. The body was clad in a black jersey and grey shorts.
“Inquiries revealed that on May 05, 2024, at about 17:00 hours, the deceased was last seen at his home, which is located in close proximity to the trench. It is also claimed that the deceased suffered from Epilepsy,” the police said.
The scene was processed by Police ranks, and no marks of violence were seen on the body.
Presently, the body is at Memorial Gardens’ funeral home, awaiting post-mortem examination.
