Guyana’s senior national Men’s football has been drawn in Group A of League A of the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League Group Stage.

The draw took place on Monday in Miami.

The Golden Jaguars have been drawn alongside Costa Rica, Guatemala, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Suriname for the fourth edition of the Nations League.

Guyana sealed promotion to League A last November, by playing unbeaten in League B of Group D.

See below Concacaf release on the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League draw

Concacaf has conducted the official draw for the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League Group Stage.

Sports anchors Adriana Monsalve and Debbie Bissoon hosted the live TV event in Miami, FL, which also included Concacaf General Secretary Philippe Moggio and former players Carlos Pavon (Honduras) and Jan-Michael Williams (Trinidad and Tobago).

The fourth edition of the Concacaf Nations League will feature the Confederation’s 41 men’s senior national teams and will be played during the FIFA Match Windows of September, October and November 2024.

The Finals, where a new champion will be crowned, are scheduled for March 2025.

The competition will continue to be played in a three-league format (A, B and C), with the teams distributed into the Leagues according to the results of the preceding edition (2023/24).

LEAGUE A: 16 TEAMS (GROUP STAGE AND QUARTER–FINALS)

League A includes 16 teams and a Quarter-final round. For Group Stage play, the 12 lowest-ranked League A national teams (based on the Concacaf Rankings) have been split into two groups of six teams each and will play in a “Swiss style” league system, with each team playing a total of four games (two at home and two away).

The groups were drawn and are as follows:

Group A: Costa Rica, Guatemala, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Suriname and Guyana
Group B: Jamaica, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Nicaragua and French Guiana

After Group Stage play in September and October 2024, the first and second-place finishers of each group (four teams in total) will advance to the Quarterfinals, where they will join the four top-ranked League A teams (Mexico, United States, Panama, and Canada).

The pairings for the Quarter-finals will be determined as follows:

QF1: Fourth-ranked seeded team (Canada) vs Best first place (1A/1B)
QF2: Third-ranked seeded team (Panama) vs Next first place (1A/1B)
QF3: Second-ranked seeded team (United States) vs Best second place (2A/2B)
QF4: Best-ranked seeded team (Mexico) vs Next second place (2A/2B)

The Quarter-finals will be played in a home-and-away format, with the aggregate score winner in each matchup advancing to the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals.

LEAGUE B: 16 TEAMS (GROUP STAGE)

League B features 16 teams divided into four groups of four teams. During the FIFA Match Windows of September, October, and November, each team will play every team in its group twice, for a total of six matches per team.

The groups were drawn and are as follows:

Group A: El Salvador, Montserrat, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Bonaire
Group B: Curacao, Saint Lucia, Grenada, and Saint Martin
Group C: Haiti, Puerto Rico, Aruba, and Sint Maarten
Group D: Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Antigua and Barbuda, and Dominica

For each FIFA Match Window, matches in each group will be played at a centralized venue instead of the previous home-and-away format.

This format change will alleviate some of the travel challenges that Member Associations face due to our region’s unique geography and allow them to focus on delivering the best possible football.

The third-best-ranked teams in each group will host the September matches, the second-best-ranked teams will host the October matches, and the best-ranked teams will host the decisive November matches.

If a team is unable to host matches, Concacaf will reserve the right to select a venue.

LEAGUE C: NINE TEAMS (GROUP STAGE)

League C includes nine teams divided into three groups of three teams. During the FIFA Match Windows of September and October, each team will play every team in its group twice, for a total of four matches per team.

The groups were drawn and are as follows:

Group A: Barbados, Bahamas, and US Virgin Islands
Group B: Belize, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Anguilla
Group C: Saint Kitts and Nevis, Cayman Islands, and British Virgin Islands

Similar to League B, matches in each group will be played at a centralized venue. The second-highest-ranked teams in each group will host the September matches, and the highest-ranked teams will host the October matches.

    PROMOTION AND RELEGATION

Promotion and relegation between Leagues will take place at the conclusion of the competition, as follows:

League A: Fifth and sixth-place finishers will be relegated to League B.

League B: Group winners will be promoted to League A, and fourth-place finishers will be relegated to League C.

League C: Group winners and the best second-place finisher will be promoted to League B.

    SCHEDULE

The 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League will be played during the September, October and November 2024 FIFA Match Windows. For League A, the Quarter-finals will occur in November 2024. The Concacaf Nations League Finals, where the competition’s fourth champion will be crowned, will take place in March 2025 at a venue to be announced.
