Days after he was arrested, a 31-year-old mill operator was on Tuesday placed on $250,000 bail though he denied having an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in his possession.

Magistrate Rhondel Weaver read the charges to Daughton Jackson of Westminster, West Bank Demerara. He appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court.

Jackson was charged with two offenses; unlawful possession of a firearm without license and unlawful possession of ammunition without a license, contrary to Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearm Chapter 16:05.

He pleaded not guilty to both offences. The matter was adjourned to July 4, 2024.

Police Headquarters said ranks acting on information received went to a Westminster, WBD house around 12:30 hrs on Sunday.

Upon their arrival, Police said contact was made with Jackson.

“He was told of the information the Police was in receipt of and asked whether he was the holder of a firearm license, and he answered ‘no’,” Police Headquarters said.
