Man wanted for robberies, rape arrested

More than a year after being on the run, Dexter McDonald, who was wanted by the police for a series of armed robberies and rape was arrested on Friday.

Police Headquarters said McDonald was apprehended around 15:45hrs in motor vehicle PAD 1112.

He was the passenger of the vehicle which was driven by a  45-year-old contractor of Victoria village, East Coast Demerara.

The driver was also taken into custody for harbouring a wanted fugitive.

According to a Police report, ranks acting on information received went to the Belfield, East Coast Demerara.

There the intercepted the vehicle. McDonald was seated in the front seat.

The Guyana Police Force had issued a wanted bulletin for McDonald, 31, a construction worker of Lot 73 Buxton Middle Walk, East Coast Demerara in March of 2023.

McDonald and the driver remain in custody as the investigation continues.
